Don't miss our fabulous March Break Musical Theatre Camp at Star Potential Studios. Fun! Fun! Fun! Learn to sing, dance, act, improvise and much more!!! Plus.. lots of games! The camp will culminate in an original theatre production! Learn from a group of theatre professionals. For details call 416-354-2479 or visit our website at www.starpotentialstudios.comStar Potential March Break Theatre Camp 2008 March 16-20 (extended hours a possibility) Age Range: 7-14 (some students may be very experienced in one or more areas of singing, acting or dancing but no experience is necessary) Students attend the camp Monday –Friday 9am-4pm everyday during the dates of their camp. The students learn vocal technique, dance choreography, acting techniques, comedy improvisation and a number of musical theatre numbers which culminate in a showcase at the end of the session. Students train with four different entertainment industry professionals during their time at Star Potential Studios. In addition to learning the hard work of an actor – there are lots of fun games and time to meet new friends! The camps last summer were very successful. The students had a lot of fun and felt really good about their showcase at the end. In fact, most of the summer students have continued to train at Star Potential year round! We will be working on a variety of numbers from High School musical – Hair Spray – it’ll be a blast! A Typical Day Would Look Something Like This...... 9-9:30am – Morning games – introductions etc. 9:30-10:20- Learning new steps to include in choreography 10:20-10:35 – “Juice Break” 10:35-12 – Drama/ Improv 12-1pm – Lunch – Students will either watch a movie, or go to the park with an instructor. Last year we had an “ice cream day” etc. Students who have parental consent are allowed to go across to Tim Horton’s or Burger King during the time but most parents last year preferred that the students stay with the assigned instructor during lunch break. 1-1:30 – Games 1:30-2:15 – Vocal workshop – learning technique and new music for presentation 2:15-2:30 – “Juice Break” 2:30-3:30 – Work on Musical Theatre numbers and presentation work for showcase 3:30-4 – Closing activities and Games The cost for the camp is $200 for the weeks. If you register by Feb. 1 you get $25 off the fee ($175 would be the total)

1. Write a short cover letter telling them about you. Be creative and professional in your mailing approach. If they want you– don’t make them hunt for your contact info. Include your contact number on everything! Be Polite. Don’t call again and again. They got your package. If they like your type or need your type, they will call you. If not now, they might need your type next month.
2. The more mailings you send out the better your chances. Kids talent agents come and go frequently and kids casting agents work on various projects. You need to keep your name, and photo out there and often. The more you are out there, the better your odds of booking jobs.
3. Always use a legitimate licensed kids talent agency. Get the up-to-date kids talent agent list at commercialkids.com if you are planning on doing acting, modeling, singing or dance professionally, these are the only talent agents you should ever use. If they are not on our lists, they are NOT LEGITIMATE and NOT LICENSED.
4. Do your homework. Millions of people are trying to break into showbiz. Be professional and stay ahead. You need to know who the executives are that are currently working on a project. All of our listings consist of currently working professionals. If they are not currently working, they are not listed. Just another way we save you time and money.
5. Study, practice and, then, study more. Take classes, and, then, take more classes. When you get that audition for that dream role, you will need the talent to back it up. Never stop learning and improving.
6. Don’t be afraid to start small. If you are planning on becoming a star and make your living as actor or model: learn your craft by taking smaller roles, doing plays, print work (fashion & commercial), and commercials. All are great things that will give you experience, skills, and credits and pay great money.
7. Be a big fish in a small pond. You don’t have to be in L. A. or N. Y. to be successful. Get a local licensed kid talent agency from our list and build experience locally before hitting N. Y. or L. A.
8. Do commercials. They teach you how to audition, work with kids agents, negotiate, act, work on a set, build your resume and bring income. One national commercial can pay you over $100,000 over two years. If you or your children are really serious get our Lights, Camera, Kid’s video and learn from industry professionals.

TARGETING KIDS AGENTS

* Determine what your interests and needs are and use our kids agents lists and preprinted casting director mailing labels to reach those specific casting agents, talent agents, modeling agents, music agents and dance agents.
* Reach out only to licensed legitimate agents. If they are not on our lists, chances are they will charge you fees and steal your money.

GET INVOLVED

* Take classes. Read books and listen to CD’s. These materials will give you an advantage over the competition.

RESUMES

* Children and babies are not expected to have a resume. However if you have taken classes or have done jobs, let the Casting Directors and Talent Agents on our lists know.
* All resumes are not created equal. Tailor your resume to the specific area of representation in which you are interested (i.e. If you are looking for a commercial agent, list your commercial credits first).
* Always keep your resume current, and remember to include a contact telephone number.
* Voice talent: An audio demo tape should generally not exceed 3 minutes. The purpose of the tape is to display your style, quality and range.

INTERVIEW YOUR KIDS AGENT

* Make the most of the situation. Ask questions. Be polite, but ask questions. The interview process works both ways.
* Remember, your agent works for you and you work for your agent. The ideal relationship will be satisfying and beneficial for both parties.

CHILDRENS HEAD SHOTS AND KIDS MODELING PORTFOLIOS

* Don’t spend money on modeling portfolios or head shots when you are just starting out. Especially with babies and young children. They change too quickly and you will waste your money. Get a nice snapshot and send that out. When you start booking lots of jobs, then make that investment.
